Day Four, Sydney: Me & Mrs. Jones

Michael Buble Front Row
Widlife World & Church

Greetings America:

Today’s email is going to be a little different, bc I’m not going to tell you about our day (and it was a busy, wet, cold day), but rather about our evening. Disclaimer: I would like to dedicate this email/post to one of my very best girlfriends…Mrs. Jones (you know who you are).

Let me take you back in time… early last fall, I purchased tix with Mrs. Jones and her husband, for myself, Zeus, my mom and dad to go see Michael Buble when he came to the new UCF arena this past February. I gave everyone their tickets for Christmas; this was no easy task to keep this to myself b/c I was so excited… You see, Mr. Buble has a special place in our hearts b/c Zeus and I danced to his version of “Sway” at our wedding, so this was a huge coup to get these tickets (especially considering they were sold out and we had to go to the higher powers at UCF to score these tickets).

Moving along, everyone was thrilled with their tickets and we were all set. And then Zeus strated his new job and we learned at some point in February, he would be traveling…guess when he traveled? That’s right, February 23, the night of Michale Buble. So, our friend Dawn, who through her own misfoutune with MB tickets, bought Zeus’ and we were each others dates. We had a fun time, but it just wasn’t the same without my Zeusypoo!

Fast forward to Sydney, four days ago… walking over to Darling Harbour I saw a sign that read “June Enetertainment” and I’ll be damned if Michael Buble wasn’t coming on Thursday, June 5! Seriously, what are the odds that we come half way around the world and Mr. Buble is in town at the same time?! You’ve got to be kidding me! I said, we have to try and get tickets, we’ll check with the Concierge. Well, needless to say no such luck there. So we decided fine, we’ll wait till the night of and try to scalp tickets. We cleared the scalping laws with the concierge b/c wouldn’t it suck to be arrested for purchasing scalped tickets in a foriegn country!? Well, after a very long, cold, wet sight-seeing day, we strolled to the Entertainment Center so we knew where we needed to return to try and scalp tickets. As we strolled, I said, why don’t we see if the box office is open and beg for tickets. So, we went to the box office and asked, do you have any tickets? They teased us and we begged and he said “let’s see what we have.” So he looked up some tickets and they were nose bleed but we said we’d take them, we didn’t care. We waited a couple of minutes while he did something and he returned from talking with another girl and said, “give us one moment, she’s going to check and see if she’s got something better, she thinks she does.” We said, “cool.” Well, she does her magic and we go, how much closer can we get, she turns the seating chart around, points and says, “how do these look?” THEY WERE FRONT ROW, CENTER STAGE! (It’s at this point you’re shouting HOLY SHIT! b/c that’s what we did!).

We hauled ass back to the hotel to rest and shower (cause you know we had to look good for Mr. Buble). When we arrived the place was bussling with excited MB fans and we were reeling b/c we coulnd’t believe we got these seats. It wasn’t until we were escorted to our seats that it really sank in…HOLY SHIT, WE’RE FRONT ROW AT MICHALE BUBLE! Ladies…he’s so fine that close. He’s cute and scruffy and (shout out to Amanda & Katie) I wanted to bite his face off! Zeus got a hand shake and a “pound” from him and we got the most amazing photos and video! His show was just as amazing as the Orlando show! So funny, so engaging, so entertaining, but the crowd was not nearly as fun as the Florida show! We Floridians know how to have a good time at a concert! However, it was so amazing and I’m so grateful I got to see him with Zeus! And Zeus was thrilled! As we got into the cab, I looked at Zeus and said well…”we came half way around the world to see Micheal Buble together, guess we can call it a trip!” HA HA…totally kidding, but it really is true, we had to come half way around the world to see him together. I think given the good fortune we had with the timing and then the incredible seats, it was God’s way of saying “see I’m looking out for you, even if you are miles apart, weeks or months at a time.”

So, as I sit here now, listening to Me & Mrs. Jones, sipping a glass of Sydney wine, I’m thinking life sure is funny sometimes. The first four days of our Sydney “holiday” (as the Aussies say)  has exceeded our expectations and I can’t imagine how it can get better! But then I remember, we’re going to the wineries and vineyards tomorrow…you do the math people…

Zeus has gone to bed, so you’ll have to wait for video and photos tomorrow evening, but they’ll be there for you I promise. Until then, stay cool while we try to stay dry, put on a little MB and enjoy… Me & Mrs. Jones…

Mandy
