What an incredible show!  I couldn’t have asked for a more fun show!  Finally not only did I see some ‘Some Devil’ songs, but I saw 2 cover songs that were incredible to watch, aside from All Along the Watch Tower.    Mandy couldn’t have asked for a more fun show, she finally got to see Satelite, great cover songs, and Julia Roberts introduce the band,  which was another one of my highlights too.  I didn’t know Julia was going to introduce the band, but it was truly special because I know she’s already close friends to the band and a huge fan.  She was so sweet with some incredibly touching words and it really pumped us all up for an amazing show!  The energy at this place was off the charts!  I really love seeing the band in NY, this is definitely one of my top shows at close tie with Central Park.  Enjoy the videos, thanks YouTube!  I just finished downloading the show and add a link to download it later.

Sledgehammer!

So Damn Lucky!

Recently some of my favorite and inspiring ‘celebrities’ passed away for one reason or another.

First George Carlin, a pinnacle comedian of his life time and to this day.  I did get to see him live back in Melbourne.  Still extremely funny and innovative.  You couldn’t have asked for someone so smart and engaging.  Kevin Smith said it best in his blog post.

Bernie Mac, another hilarious comedian, and super nice guy.  From everything I read about him online, from people meeting him, they only said good things.  He was a hard working man, and deserved all the fame and success he had.

LeRoi Moore saxaphonist from the Dave Matthews Band.  Another super nice guy that deserved everything he had.  One with extreme talent, and the heart of gold.  Mandy and I donated to some of his favorite charities in Virginia.  We’ll be very sad when we see the Maddison Square Garden Show Stand Up for a Cure, it won’t be the same, but we’ll have a great time for the man above!

LeRoi Moore

Finally after 8 years of going to shows, Eddie finally met the man himself!  Eddie met him before the Columbus, OH show.  He wasn’t planning on going to this show, but a friend from work was a 10 year Warehouse member and had 7th row seats dead center seats and an extra ticket.  He couldn’t pass it up.  A few days before, the warehouse member got an email saying he could do a meet and greet or just go back stage.  Well of course he choose a meet and greet.

They had to meet at 6:45pm by the front gate and were taken back stage next to a green room. On their walk back they meet Jeff Coffin (the saxophonist temporarily replacing Leroy Moore).  While they waited a few minutes Dave came out and started going down the line signing things and taking pictures.  Eddie and his friend were in the middle of the line and Dave finally got up to him. Eddie had a quaint conversation mentioning he and his wife loved Dave’s music and how his wife is at home because they didn’t have any tickets for the show. Eddie says that Dave is about my height as nice and charming as you see him on tv.

Anyways Eddie got a poster signed and his picture.

The show was even better knowing he met him just a few hours before they went on.  I’m so happy that one of us finally got to meet Dave Matthews in person!

Eddie met Dave Matthews!

Willie Nelson playing GravediggerI’m a fan of Willie Nelson, and you already know I’m a huge fan of Dave Matthews. I really enjoy when other big artists cover Dave Songs, and this Willie Nelson Gravedigger Video is pretty cool. I’m on the fence of liking it, but it’s still pretty cool! Jimmy Buffett has covered Tripping Billies, and Stevie Nicks has covered Crash Into Me, and I know there are more but those are the latest ones the Dave Matthews Band community has heard about….

Willie Nelson playing Gravedigger

I was checking out A day in the life of a Wine-o (Joel’s site) and holy shit can these two Mexicans play some guitar.

Lindsay just saw the Hollywood Bowl show with some amazing seats (I’m very jealous).  Mandy’s even more jealous cause she actually saw John Mayer play the song #41 with the band.  It’s really nice when someone sees the band play live for the first time it’s really a different experience, and that goes for most live performances of any performer.  Lindsay’s gonna be that girl we can eventually say I know that girl, we’re like best friends, and she gives me money all the time cause she’s rich!  Anyways, back to seeing the Dave Matthews Band live, I’m up to 21 shows and every one is memorable and super fun and energetic.  I never understood that ‘the energy was awesome’ untill seeing live shows in general.  Now my top five of live performances (there may be more, but that’s all I remember).

  1. Jimmy Buffett at West Palm Beach (when it was called Mars Music Amphitheatre back in 1998, box seats, and it was my first concert ever!)
  2. Dave Matthews Band at West Palm Beach (again Mars Music Amphitheatre back in 1998, box seats, second concert)
  3. Dave Matthews Band at Central Park (the energy was amazing, and I can’t talk enough about it)
  4. Jason Mraz at House of Blues in Orlando (super fun show, he’s AMAZING live!!!)
  5. Bare Naked Ladies at TD Waterhouse (their improv songs are fucking amazing, and they’re super funny!).

Update:  Available for download the Dave Matthews Band show from Hollywood Bowl 10-02-2007 (192mb).
