Today, twice, and I’m sure it could have been more I have corrected news casters (ABC News, and Robin from Howard Stern) on how they pronounced Hurricane Noel as ‘No-el’, it’s ‘Nol’. It’s the guy version of Noel. A sign of a true Floridian knows if the storm name is a guy or girl’s. Happy Halloween Noel the guy Tropical Storm!!

Mac OS X LeopardWell, I’m no too happy with Apple at the moment. My install took me 8 hours. I prepared it by reading the apple forums very well. I read on gizmodo, that you need to uninstall application enhancer(check!). Along with that I browsed through the apple support forums for leopard especially this post where it talks about a post leopard installation stuck on a blue screen, and it seems to be caused by Unsanity’s Application Enhancer. No problem I say I un-installed that little app, and already had a backup of my important files, and was ready to go. Well after I boot to the Leopard DVD, and try to tell it what hard drive to install it on, it won’t let me install it on my main drive because the partition type is not GUID. The partition it was Apple something something. Soo, what sucks about this is I had to backup my full drive about 2 1/2 hours. I had to reformat my main drive as a GUID partition and then restore my backup to my main drive, so that took around 3 hours. Well, then I did the Leopard upgrade another 1 1/2 hour later. I restart and…………get the blue screen I talked about earlier. Apple came out with this “Blue screen” appears after installing Leopard and restarting, and after restarting a few times and waiting, I followed those directions and it seems there was one file that was still hanging around even though I thought I removed it. Restarted and then everything was golden!! Read the rest of this entry »

My 8 hour install of Leopard and my review.

Well, hopefully it should be pretty transparent. I used this article on exporting expression engine to wordpress with some modifications (email me for help anyone). And after hours of using some old css code and some new code, I hope everything the general look should be pretty transparent. Well, it’s really been a long time coming. Expression Engine(EE) is great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not adequate for my ‘uses’, it can do a lot of shit, in a really complicated fashion while, WordPress(WP) can still do some of that complicated shit while making it much easier for me to understand and update. Some little things; categories and tags, can be really useful, but I never got to using them in EE. While WP has it real clean and simple right there on the side in the admin page. I believe I was able to port everything pretty successfully without a hitch, comments and all. But please if you see something you don’t like, please let me know.

  1. With Expression Engine you had to pay for a license.
  2. WordPress from what Matt says will always be free, thanks Matt.
  • With EE you could have tinymce, but it was tricky
  • With WP, it’s built in and a life saver

I like how WP auto saves your posts, and in EE, it just wasn’t there. EE is supposedly working on the next great CMS, and I’m sure it’ll be great, but a simpler looking and as powerful CMS/blog software is #1 in my book.

Now I’m gonna install Leopard.

It’s been a request by some friends and family, and the major talk of our wedding. Our first dance. I’ve uploaded it to Youtube and I have a better version out there, but it’s on for a select few. It’s 3:10 in length.

With the help of Eric, Kat-Man-Tay Tours Jacksonville Fishing Charters is looking really good.  I’m happy with it’s layout and the way it looks in general. There are  things that I want to do for it to be that much better, like adding a ‘book online’ feature, which  I’m thinking of writing myself in php.  Yeah I said it!  I’m coding again, and it’s fun!  Eric has been teaching me things and I now understand php code 100% better!  There’s still a lot of functions and good coding practices that I’m grasping.  Slow and steady wins the race.  Getting back to KMTTours.com, those people with blogs would provide some link love to KMTTours.com Captain Henry would greatly appreciate it!  I’m begging, please link to us!
