Heh, this is a little random, crazy last minute, but work has sent me to hawaii, I can’t complain.  I’ve started to write a journal of my 14 hour trip here, and well here it is.  I’ll keep adding to it as things move along.

My travels to Hawaii, I’ve been up since 7:30am because last night I rememebered at least three things I realized I either forgot, or needed to check.  1) I didn’t have any pens or pencils in my laptop bag (that’s really being that unprepared).  2) One of the documents I had I needed to make sure it was complete.  3) I didn’t have a notebook to write down notes, redlines, or anything else important.

I headed out that morning to get my engineering notebook, and some donuts from Krispy Kreme.  I got back checked on my documents, and got some pens and pencils.  I was all set.  I checked the weather, and saw that it’s be wise for me to bring a light jacket.  I also remembered to  bring sun screen.  Got all those final things packed, showered, and Mandy took me to the airport. I have two lay overs one in Atlanta, and one in LA.  I have begun to write this on my way to Atlanta.  I’m excited to see the LA’s airport and the different people that are around.  I’m not looking forward to my next long flight to Hawaii, I hear it’s 5 hours or something incredible like that.  I got a message from Mike (co worker) who’s already arrived in Hawaii, that he can pick me up from the airport, and that’s he’s island hoping today (asshole).

As I type this on the plane on my work laptop, I feel very much like a true professional and adult. I could do some work related stuff, but it can wait.  I’m about to pop in one of the 5 movies I bought last night at Best Buy.  This is a big trip for me, cause it’s my first work related trip I’ve gone on by myself, and I’m a key player in the success of this delivery.

Mexicans make the best Guacamole!  I had some nachos with lots of guacamole.

<Flight to Hawaii>

5 fuckin hours!  Damn will this return flight suck, but fortunately it’s overnight so I should be able to sleep some.  I believe it’s a direct to Atlanta, and then home to Orlando.

Getting ready for work, I’ve uploaded some photos to Picassa.  In this order, look from my hotel room, view from a bridge close to hotel, place where we snorkled, and place where a geocache took us.

Yeah, I skipped last year, but not this time!  I have it all lined up and ready to go.  Don’t rememeber what it is?  It’s something I created when I first started HZ.org like 5 years ago.  It was fun and I even had some hilarous posts (Thanks Cole).  It’s gonna be back and it’ll be open so that any member of the site can post.  So get ramped up and ready to role!

So, I’m slightly rearranging the office.  I’m rearranging some of the Dave Matthews Band posters, and putting up some more shelves and I’m going to print out a big Cuba Poster using Block Posters I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now, and here’s my chance.  I’ll let you know how it turns out, but if it turns out like I invision, it’s gonna look really nice.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Part of the office project entails modifing the desk to fit over the sitting area next to the window.  Mandy gave me the great idea and I’m really looking forward to hacking up the desk so it fits perfectly over the edge.

The Office Project

I purchased not only my first laptop, but the macbook pro I've been dreaming about.  Best thing is I didn't put it on a credit card!  I've been saving for quite some time, and I used some money from early birthday gifts, and selling the mac mini to purchase this dream machine as my birthday present.  I'm proud of myself for waiting this long.  Specs, it's the base model macbook pro 15" with the 128MB video card.  This thing is smokin hawt (in a really good way).

Finally after 2 years or so

Well, Mandy and I are throwing Katy a graduation party.   So, I’m getting the house ready with some projects I’ve been putting off or need to get done in general, and it’s a good time to do it.  This past weekend, I took the time and worked a little bit less, and with the help of Mandy and my parents that were in town, got the following things done;

  • The Shed Project (I finished that up put the lawn mower, wheel barrow and pig cooker inside the shed).
  • Fixing the Screen Porch Door (it was just not closing right, and knowing I was cooking a pig and people would be going in and out, that had to be fixed).
  • Fixing a light in the kitchen (it’s one of those florescent lights that needed to be replaced)
  • Took the fan that was in the Master Bath and wired it into the plug (that was fun cause to turn it on Mandy would plug it in, the on switch was out of reach, so I wired it in to the light fixture you can’t see any dangling wires, it looks very professional.)/images/uploads/FanJob.jpg
  • I wired the guest bedroom and the office with a phone line (this was done so that I could move the DSL modem and router back to the office so I can hook up a wireless printer to my new airport base station, this was the worst task cause it was 160 degrees in the attic at 3pm, not my best idea, but we had our momentum on our side)./images/uploads/TelephoneJack.jpg
  • Took down the wall paper in the dinning room and painted the upper half red (Mandy’s been wanting to do this ever since she got her new dinning room cushions, which leads me to….)./images/uploads/Dinning_Room.JPG
  • Attached our new dinning room cushions back to the chairs (Mandy’s mom found this fabric it matches our china with the dragon fly theme, so we wanted to match the room a little bit better)./images/uploads/ChairUposlstry.jpg
  • Washed the back of the house, windows included (this was done cause there was some frog or bird shit that just looked tacky on the back of the house, and some mild algae growing on the outside of the window sills.

I think that’s it, there may have been some other things, but they were small and insignificant.  My office project is gonna be fun!  The office is the one area in the house that I can do whatever I want with it!

Ya know it is fun to go find something with a GPS.  Best thing about it is it’s a cheap hobby!!  On Eric’s blog he has his stats on the side bar.
